My roommate of sophomore year, Amber, who is a screenwriter from Long Island and devotes her soul to Jesus, told me that she never knew the word Lotus. I asked her, "what about water lily? They are pretty much the same." Unfortunately, she has seen neither of them.
We used to have little talks before bedtime, about Christianity and Zen; however, little talks sometimes became 2-hour discussions. I remembered I said to her, she and I were on two isolated isles; we saw each other but we could never cross the sea between.
This print project is done by one woodblock, applying the subtractive printmaking technique: I carved out the area of white and printed the first layer of yellow; then I cut out the area that suppose to stay yellow and printed the second layer of blue. I used two types of blue to build the depth of leaves.
